Drift Boat Bow River Fly Fishing - Guided Tour

Calgary. A river runs through our city and it sings.   The Bow River, so named for the reeds that were once used to make bows, begins in the mountains west of the city is considered to be one of the best trout streams in North America. Anticipation is high as the boat slips quietly into the water and the first pictures are taken but you’ll want to stay calm and…. listen. From this point onward each trip is unique, made so by the ever changing river and its inhabitants.   The fishery is so renowned not just for the sheer numbers of trout she holds, an estimated 2500 trout per mile, but for the large size of the fish she produces and that can be regularly caught. Brown trout, rainbow trout and the ever-present mountain whitefish all share the water. The browns can be elusive… the large ones are solitary creatures and the perfect river predator. The rainbows here are a steelhead strain and a large one on the fly will tire you all the while the spirit lifts in crescendo.   The Blue Ribbon section of the Bow is divided into three reaches from Calgary downstream to Carseland. Each reach is a day trip of over twenty kilometers which will take eight or ten hours to traverse depending usually on the flow and up to twelve hours if more stops are desired.   Foot & Chain Fly Fishing Exchange began guiding the Bow in 2005. Owner and primary guide Stephen Stewart has spent decades in wildernesses the love of which elicited a desire to spend time on the river. “A natural presentation is essential when soliciting a trout to take a fly. I enjoy and appreciate the opportunity to run the river with persons of any skill level and show people that very thing.”.   Come. Sing a song. -Price is for 1 or 2 persons -Includes guide, fly fishing equipment, lunch, snacks & soft drinks, Hotel shuttle within Calgary. -Client is required to purchase local fishing licence (Approx. $37 CAD)   If you have any questions, we can answer those through GetMyBoat’s messaging platform before you pay.
